Merger & Acquisition Summit 2025: Marotta and De Siervo to Discuss American Investors in Italian Football

Leading international investors, institutional representatives, and top industry experts will gather on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at the Riccardo Catella Foundation in Milan for the fifth annual Merger & Acquisition Summit, organized by Il Sole 24 Ore. The event, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, will analyze current trends and future prospects in the dynamic market of mergers and acquisitions, both in Italy and internationally.

Fabio Tamburini, Director of Il Sole 24 Ore, will open the proceedings, followed by an institutional address by Maurizio Leo, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance (invited), who will outline the government`s strategy for state-owned holdings.

The day`s focus will be on analyzing trends and prospects in the mergers and acquisitions market. Alessandro Soprano, Partner at KPMG, will review 2024 and delve into scenarios for 2025. Enrico Fagioli, Deputy CEO of illimity, will discuss the crucial role of credit in the growth of Italian companies. A discussion will be dedicated to geopolitical risks, abundant liquidity, and interest rate forecasts for 2025, with the participation of Maria Teresa Iardella, Managing Director at Mediobanca; Eugenio Morpurgo, CEO of Fineurop Soditic; Daniela Travella from SDA Bocconi; and Stefano Valerio, Managing Partner at Gatti Pavesi Bianchi Ludovici.

The perspective of international investors on Italy`s attractiveness will also be highlighted, with speeches from Umberto Giacometti, Managing Director, Head of EMEA Financial Sponsors Group, Co-Head of Investment Banking, Italy, Nomura, Marco Paesotto, Co-Head Investment Banking in Italy, Managing Director of Goldman Sachs, Paolo Sersale, Managing Partner Italy at Clifford Chance, and Alberto Signori, Partner at KKR. European banking consolidation will be analyzed by economist Ignazio Angeloni, while Alessandro Profumo will discuss major Italian banks.

Acquisition strategies of Italian multinationals will be presented by Mara Caverni, Managing Partner at New Deal Advisors, Paolo Dal Ferro, CFO of Golden Goose, Angelo Mastrolia, President of Newlat Food, and Sergio Marullo di Condojanni, CEO of Angelini Industries. The growing influence of technology and artificial intelligence in M&A transactions will be the focus of a speech by Alfonso Robustelli, Country Head Italy & Iberia at SS&C Intralinks. Giancarlo D’Ambrosio, Partner at Freshfields LLP, Anna Gervasoni, DG of AIFI and Rector of LIUC, Sergio Iorio, CEO of Italmatch, Patrizia Micucci, CEO of Nb Aurora, Marco Mazzucchelli, Head of Private Equity at BIP, and Paola Tondelli, Head of UTP & Turnaround Funds at illimity SGR, will discuss the strategic role of private equity in the development of the Italian business landscape.

Finally, Giuseppe Marotta, CEO of F.C. Inter, Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Serie A, and Marco Samaja, CEO of Lazard Italia, will analyze the increasing interest of American investors in the Italian football sector.
