Pavan went on to claim that the specific image shown to the referee by VAR was poor (“a lunar image”), suggesting that from a different angle, it would be clear that Kalulu`s contact was light and Castellanos` reaction was exaggerated, noting the player held a part of his body not involved in the contact. Pavan stated that while he could accept Kalulu being sent off if the rules were applied strictly, consistency would require Pellegrini also to be expelled for his actions. He concluded by finding it “scandalous” that replays of Pellegrini`s incidents were not shown.
