According to journalist Massimo Marianella, speaking on Sky Sport, Juventus is about to announce the replacement of Thiago Motta with Igor Tudor. Marianella expressed surprise at the timing of this decision, which seemed already decided from a sporting perspective but awaiting financial approval. Delaying the announcement would have worsened the situation.
Marianella described Juventus` season as strange. The hiring of Motta, a modern and capable coach, seemed like the beginning of a new positive cycle, strengthened by two good transfer windows with valid signings like Kelly, Nico Gonzalez, and Douglas Luiz. However, Douglas Luiz`s qualities have not been fully realized like those of Koopmeiners.
Marianella highlighted how Motta made drastic decisions, releasing players with a strong connection to Juventus, such as Szczesny, Chiesa, Rabiot, Danilo, and Alex Sandro. Some of these players were at the end of their cycle, while others were dismissed abruptly. The strategy seems to have been to prioritize the present, sacrificing the future with the sale of promising youngsters like Soulé and Hujsen, the latter linked to big clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid. Marianella concluded by emphasizing that, despite Motta`s abilities, character and relationship management issues have emerged, already known from his past experiences at PSG and Bologna.
