Massimo Marianella, a highly knowledgeable Sky Sport commentator specializing in the Premier League, shared his thoughts on Marco Silva, the Fulham coach recently linked with Juventus.
According to Marianella, Marco Silva is a good coach, but he frankly sees Juventus as being “two steps above.” He noted that being Portuguese can make it easier to find coaching jobs in England, as Portuguese managers are often sought after. While acknowledging Silva`s quality, Marianella firmly believes he is “at least one dimension below Juventus.” He described Silva as a coach with ideas, although his performance in England hasn`t always been outstanding despite managing several clubs.
Marianella expressed surprise at the speculation linking Silva to Juventus and suggested it might just be the initial phase of scouting for the club. He added that he would be surprised if Marco Silva were to become Juventus`s manager. Furthermore, he mentioned that Igor Tudor, another coach whose name has been circulated, has limitations regarding joining other teams due to his obligation to coach in the upcoming Club World Cup. Tudor has a release clause that would be financially burdensome for him if he doesn`t fulfill this commitment. Therefore, either Juventus would need to release him, or other vacant coaching positions might be filled in the meantime.
