Marco Reus’s Masterful Free-kick and Penalty Secure Victory for LA Galaxy

Marco Reus was instrumental in securing three points for former champions LA Galaxy in MLS, almost single-handedly delivering a victory.

The 36-year-old star found the back of the net with a spectacular 18-yard free-kick into the top corner in the 9th minute of the 2-1 win (1-1) against Real Salt Lake. He then sealed the victory with a penalty in the 85th minute.

«The key was not giving up,» Reus stated to Apple TV. «We talked about that before the game – and in the end, we won. I’m very proud of the team.» He downplayed his free-kick, calling it «nothing special,» attributing it to «just concentration and training.»

Despite Reus’s modesty, coach Greg Vanney offered him special praise. «The other guys are our fighters, they work hard, but Marco is the creative one who sees the game from a different perspective,» Vanney commented. He added, «He brings his experience, his knowledge, and his feel for space, knowing where to run. He gives us something that nobody else on the field has.»

Double Strike: Strong Reus Performance Propels Galaxy to Victory

These goals marked Reus’s third and fourth of the season in his tenth appearance. An own goal by JT Marcinkowski in the 45th+4 minute had temporarily equalized for the visitors.

With this win, Los Angeles now sits in tenth place in the Western Conference with twelve points from ten matches, level with a pre-playoff spot. Real Salt Lake is currently sixth in the standings with sixteen points.
