In a recent interview with `Corriere della Sera`, former Juventus legend Claudio Marchisio offered his perspective on the current state of the club. He specifically commented on the team`s recent visit to meet with US President Donald Trump.
Regarding the meeting, Marchisio stated he was “surprised, especially by the timing.” While declining to elaborate on the specifics that led to the visit, he noted it wasn`t the first time Juventus had been to the Oval Office. What particularly struck him was the reaction of the players and staff present, observing that even the two American players appeared surprised by Trump`s remarks and questions. He felt it represented “two distant worlds that should remain separate.”
Turning his attention to Juventus`s performance on the pitch, Marchisio admitted, “I am not happy with Juventus.” He voiced concern over the noticeable “little chemistry” or lack of cohesion, which he felt wasn`t limited to just the players. Acknowledging the significant changes the club has undergone in recent years, he believes they need time to find their direction again.
Marchisio expressed confidence in the potential return of Giorgio Chiellini to a role within the club`s structure and praised Manuel Locatelli`s efforts on the field, noting how quickly Locatelli has embraced the “Juve DNA.” He also highlighted that the current coach is a former player. Marchisio concluded by emphasizing that Juventus requires “solidity, both on and off the pitch.”
