Luciano Moggi, former Juventus executive, spoke on the program `Tutto il mio calcio e non solo` hosted by Director Ezio Luzzi on Elleradio. Asked about the recent resurgence of issues related to match-fixing, the Scudetto race, and Juventus` final placement, he stated:
“In the match-fixing scandal of that time (the Totonero of 1980, ed.), everyone was acquitted, and I think the same thing will happen today. These are media gossips, but I don`t think there are real culprits. When I was a manager, during Roma-Perugia, vans entered the Olimpico to arrest players. Then it all ended with the case being dismissed because these are sensationalized stories that enrich and sell newspapers.”
“I believe these are bets outside the Italian league, and in private life, everyone can do what they want. I don`t even consider the underlying problem because it creates martyrs. Michele Padovano was in jail for 17 years and then was acquitted for not committing the crime…”
“Who will win the Scudetto? Napoli has more chances. They have an easier league schedule and a great coach. Inter is stronger, but they have more commitments, and we need to see if they can last until the end. You do the math.” Regarding the Champions League, “I am very confident that Inter will advance (against Bayern Munich, ed.).”
“Juve fourth? I think so, the coach was undermined… now the approach to matches is totally different.”
