As the Serie A season concludes, Juventus fans are left pondering a campaign described by many as strange and hard to define. Whether the fourth-place finish truly guarantees Champions League football remains to be seen, but a lack of determination in the final match against Venezia would invite harsh judgment. Linus, a prominent Juventus supporter and director of Radio Deejay, shared his perspective on Radiobianconera`s `Il Club degli Inviati`.
“Like all fans and insiders, I experienced this season with suffering,” Linus stated. He admitted a degree of apprehension even looking ahead to the Club World Cup, hoping it doesn`t mirror the league performance. “Football is strange; there are coincidences and unpredictable factors, like the few centimeters that determine a goal or an offside call, which can shape a season.”
Linus acknowledged that everything seemed in place for a successful year, leading to the disappointment expressed by many who were enthusiastic at the start. “It seemed like we had an excellent transfer campaign, but football always trips you up,” he reflected. He characterized the season unequivocally: “It was a confusing season.”
He pointed to a lack of certainties and excessive confusion, compounded by bad luck early on, such as Bremer`s injury. He also mentioned rigid tactical schemes that complicated matters for the players, raising questions about whether the new arrivals were the right fit or simply “unlucky clones.” Linus noted that fans have the luxury of being able to joke about it.
However, he expressed empathy for those on the pitch. “I imagine those who played this season, with what frustration they must have experienced some matches,” he said. Linus believes players should be understood as athletes. “It`s not fair, for example, to ask a team having a poor season to take off their shirts, because they don`t play badly intentionally. Sometimes, things just don`t work out, and often it`s the fault of everything happening around you.”
