Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson spoke about his experience in Serie A, stating: “Serie A is top, at the highest level, so I wanted to play regularly with high-level players and also against high-level opponents. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. It`s here that you improve as a player. To do so, there is not much better than moving to a different country, having to learn a different culture and language. Last season with Motta was fantastic. He played an important role in my development here in Italy. He gave me a lot of confidence and security, and I learned a lot from him.”
Regarding the new coach, Italiano, Ferguson commented: “Italiano has a different style. Every coach has different styles and ideas. With Motta, we played a slightly more strategic football. With Italiano, it`s more intense. We attack much more, which means we have to defend many more counter-attacks, but it`s the way he wants to play and it suits the guys. Everyone believes in it, as you can see from the results, and things are going really well.”
