Pierre Kalulu spoke to Dazn following the defeat against Parma, sharing his thoughts on the match and the team`s performance.
Asked about a perceived lack of rhythm, Kalulu responded: “I need to rewatch the game, but I think we could have won more individual battles. Also, I believe we needed more aggression and determination in the final 10-15 meters, both in attack and defence. Against a team that moves the ball well, we could have done more overall.”
Regarding the difficulty in tracking Bonny`s position with the defensive line, Kalulu stated: “On the pitch, it wasn`t really Bonny alone who made the decisive difference, although he played well. It`s true that when a forward drops very deep, we have to be patient and then push up later. It`s also true we should have broken the lines more effectively, maybe through better communication. But I need to watch the game again calmly because there are some things I don`t remember perfectly.”
Addressing the issue of ten goals conceded from headers this season, which is becoming a significant problem for the team, Kalulu acknowledged: “It`s always a problem to concede goals. When we concede from crosses and headers, we first need to improve at preventing the crosses themselves, making it harder for opponents and giving them less space. Then, inside the penalty area, it`s never straightforward, especially against a tall player like Pellegrino.”
On the impact of other results, such as Atalanta and Bologna winning, and how frustrating it is to be fifth with Lazio now level on points, Kalulu commented: “Today we lost an opportunity to be higher up the table, but honestly, even if we had won today, everything would still be very open. Teams are close in points, and there are direct matches coming up. I see it as a very open race; every game and every point until the end will be crucial. Today`s result is a blow, but nothing is lost yet. We do look at other results, but it has very little impact on our mindset and approach.”
