Juventus Woman Chiara Beccari Sustains Injury, Replaced by Bergamaschi for EURO 2025

Juventus Women`s forward, Chiara Beccari, will not participate in the upcoming European Championship. The player suffered an injury during a training session, which led Italy coach Soncin to remove her from the 23-player roster selected for the continental competition. Beccari will be replaced at the last minute by another player from the Bianconeri squad, Valentina Bergamaschi.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) released the following statement regarding the change:

“A setback for Italy on the day of their highly anticipated EURO 2025 debut against Belgium, scheduled for 6 PM (broadcast on Rai 2) at the Stade de Tourbillon in Sion. Due to an injury, Chiara Beccari will not be part of the squad participating in the continental tournament. The Juventus forward sustained a muscle strain in her right thigh during training and will be replaced by fellow Juventus player Valentina Bergamaschi. Bergamaschi, along with Aurora Galli, Astrid Gilardi, and Martina Rosucci – although not part of the final 23-player list – were already training with the rest of the group during the training camp.”

“Coach Andrea Soncin had decided to bring 27 players to Switzerland for the final preparation phase, taking advantage of the regulations that allow for a change in the squad list in case of injury or illness up until the opening match. UEFA has authorized the substitution after receiving the request from the FIGC. The 20-year-old Beccari, who despite her young age had already participated in the 2023 World Cup, will cheer for her teammates from the stands this evening and will return to Italy tomorrow along with Galli, Gilardi, and Rosucci.”
