Jankulovski: ‘Milan’s Strange Season, Regarding Conte and Inter…’

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb at the `Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship` event, Marek Jankulovski offered his perspective on AC Milan`s performance this season and other Italian football matters.

He commented on Milan`s campaign, stating: `It`s a strange season, but they still managed to win the Italian Super Cup in January. Now we hope they can secure the Coppa Italia. While these might not be the most coveted trophies fans aspire to – the Scudetto or the Champions League – winning the Coppa Italia would at least ensure qualification for Europe. I honestly can`t fathom Milan not being in Europe. I always try to think positively and hope next season will be different. Interestingly, Milan had the upper hand in the derbies this year, not losing any of the five matches against Inter.`

Jankulovski then discussed Inter Milan`s situation: `You know, Inter is a strong team, but ultimately, everything is judged at the end of the season. They lost the Super Cup and are out of the Coppa Italia. Perhaps they`ll also be eliminated from the Champions League and lose the Scudetto, ending up without any trophies despite their strength.`

Regarding speculation about Antonio Conte`s potential return to Juventus, Jankulovski added: `In my opinion, he would be perfectly fine staying where he is. But you know how football is nowadays – sometimes you win the league and still move on because you don`t like something. He definitely has a strong personality and has already hinted at things he wasn`t pleased with. We`ll just have to wait and see. However, any team that manages to sign him would be making an excellent acquisition.`
