Italy U19 Women’s Team: Ready for the Euros with Enthusiasm and High Aspirations

`Italy

The Italy Under 19 women`s national team is set to begin their European Championship journey this Sunday at 6 PM in Stalowa Wola, Poland, facing the host nation. Led by coach Nicola Matteucci, the young Azzurrine departed today for Eastern Europe to acclimatize and finalize preparations following their training camp in Tirrenia.

Speaking to Vivo Azzurro Tv, several key players shared their thoughts on the upcoming continental tournament. “Whatever the outcome, this will be an experience that stays with us forever,” stated Manuela Sciabica. “We`ve gained confidence, and I`m convinced we can deliver strong performances while playing with joy.” Alongside Sciabica, her `goal-scoring twin` Giada Pellegrinò Cimò added, “The chemistry has always been there; we`re inseparable. I make her laugh, she makes me laugh. And on the field, when I pass the ball there, I know she`s always there.”

Martina Cocino reflected on the moment the team secured qualification for the Euros: “We threw the coach in the air after he gave us a wonderful speech before the match. It was an explosion of joy, but we don`t want to stop there; we will try to go all the way.”

Goals have come from various players, including Rosanna Ventriglia and Marta Zamboni. “Scoring a hat-trick against Belarus was a source of great pride,” explained the Roma forward. “During Round 2, we felt right at home because our parents were there to watch us.” While Ventriglia netted three against Belarus, Marta Zamboni remarkably scored four goals against Slovakia. “I had never scored four in a single national team match,” joked the Juventus player. “It was also a way to put my ACL injury behind me, a real liberation.”

Manuela Perselli, a midfielder for Sassuolo, highlighted the team`s strong mentality during the Tirrenia training camp. Tasked with stopping opposing attackers, including Poland`s prominent Krystyna Flis (a Juventus player), are defenders like another Juventus player, Emma Mustafic, and Elena Belli, who played for Cesena on loan from Inter last season. “We realized this could be our European Championship,” emphasized Belli. “And little by little, we felt we could build something significant. I hope to see the same composure in matches that we have in training.”
