Italy Eyes Gatti to Fortify Defense in Nations League

`Gatti

According to La Stampa, Italy`s coach Luciano Spalletti is considering a tactical adjustment by introducing Juventus defender Gatti into the lineup for the crucial Nations League match in Dortmund. Italy is looking to rebound and secure a spot in the Final Four in Turin. To host the event, Italy must advance past Germany. Despite UEFA`s plans, the Azzurri are determined to overturn the recent 1-2 defeat against Germany from last Thursday`s game in San Siro.

Spalletti is known for keeping his cards close to his chest when it comes to revealing his starting eleven. While Buongiorno, Ricci, and Maldini have emerged as potential new faces in recent discussions, the inclusion of Gatti represents a significant defensive consideration. Gatti`s potential role is seen as a move to add more stability to the Italian backline, particularly to counter aerial threats, which proved problematic in the previous encounter at San Siro.

Gatti, the sole Juventus player remaining with the national team, is being considered to bring more solidity to the defense. The idea is to reinforce the area in front of Donnarumma, aiming to prevent high ball attacks. Gatti is known for his ball-playing abilities but also for his strong man-marking skills, a traditional strength of Italian defense.
