Inter Milan will host Bayern Munich tomorrow for the return leg of the Champions League round of 16. The former Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi stated: “Dimarco was fine, Carlos was fine, as were Frattesi and Zalewski. We still have Dumfries and Zielinski out, in addition to Correa who is not on the list. Kompany was an intelligent player, and he is also demonstrating that as a coach: he has many talented players, we will have to try to replicate the match in Munich with technical skill. We will have to try to keep the ball as much as possible and it will be even more difficult, because Bayern presses very well. I think Mkhitaryan has already answered very well about fatigue: we know it is a tiring season, but playing every 3-4 days can help. This year there was a new Champions League, both for us coaches and for the players: it has taken away a lot more energy, just think about last year`s journey. On November 8th we qualified in Salzburg, while this year we had to wait until January 29th with Monaco. With two months in advance last year we could think about only one goal, now there is more fatigue but also great satisfaction, knowing that tomorrow there is a very strong opponent, not because of payroll or budget, but for game principles. It always depends game after game, playing every 48 or 72 hours it is not easy to answer. As a coach I say that I would like to have Dumfries and Zielinski already tomorrow, thinking about a month ago, at the last game in Bergamo when we were 14, the situation seems improved.
Even knowing that Dumfries and Zielinski, in addition to Correa who was a choice made for the lists, are two players that I would like to have with me. Playing so much I would like to choose with my head and not based on minutes played and injuries. The difficulties are not alibis, because everyone has them, but I am convinced that this year they are due to the fact that the Champions League is more demanding than in previous years: you have two more games, eight different teams to study, two months of delay on qualification. All this may have influenced some more muscle problems than usual. We must not think about the result, but about the performance made. We should not look at the precedents, which in Inter`s history with Bayern here at San Siro have not always been positive. The guys are positive, the team knows that we are playing with a very great opponent: we respect them, but with the right attention we can have a great game. Renewal? I think this is not the moment. I can only say that I am very happy at Inter, and in the choices it will always be the most important parameter. At this moment talking about my future does not seem appropriate. But I have always said that I am fine here, in a month and a half we will talk about it`.
