Harry Kane Set to Face Real Madrid: Bayern Confident Despite Injury Scare

Despite recent ankle problems, Harry Kane showed no signs of discomfort as he enthusiastically celebrated his teammates’ thrilling comeback victory. «Wow, wow, wow! What a comeback! Praise to the lads,» cheered Bayern Munich’s star striker in a self-recorded video after the German champions secured a dramatic 3-2 (0-0) win against SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga, overcoming a 0-2 deficit. «What a mentality. What a victory. A great away win.»

According to Bayern’s wishes, a similar triumph, and crucially, with Kane leading the attack, is expected this Tuesday (9:00 PM CET) in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against record winners Real Madrid. Joshua Kimmich, the DFB captain, is firmly convinced that the English star striker will play. «He’ll even play in a wheelchair,» Kimmich declared, adding, «I expect him to be fit on the pitch on Tuesday.»

Coach Vincent Kompany shared a similar sentiment regarding Kane’s availability. «From a gut feeling, he will make it,» the Belgian stated. Sporting Director Max Eberl took a slightly more cautious approach when discussing Kane’s situation, as the striker had missed the Freiburg match due to his ankle issues. «The physios are working on it. He is constantly on the premises receiving treatment. We believe it will work out,» Eberl affirmed.

The comeback win against Freiburg, which Kane lauded, saw Bayern initially rest several key players. Michael Olise and Konrad Laimer were substituted in during the second half, while Dayot Upamecano remained on the bench. Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, who had recently been sidelined with injuries, were also brought on by Kompany in the latter part of the second half, contributing to the furious final push.
