Harry Kane has solidified his reputation as a formidable opponent for Real Madrid, reaching a significant milestone with his recent goal in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg.
The Bayern Munich striker scored a crucial penalty in the 46th minute of the semi-final first leg against Real Madrid, temporarily putting Bayern ahead 2-1 in a match that eventually ended 2-2. This goal marked Kane’s fourth consecutive Champions League match against Real Madrid with a direct goal involvement (two goals, two assists).
This impressive streak places Kane alongside two Bundesliga legends: former Bayern striker Giovane Elber and ex-Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who also achieved this feat against the Spanish giants.
Kane’s remarkable run began during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, where he assisted a goal in a 3-1 victory over Real Madrid in a Champions League group stage match in November 2017. In his debut season with Bayern, after joining for 95 million euros in the summer of 2023, Kane continued his torment of Real. He scored a penalty in the Champions League semi-final first leg, and then provided an assist for Alphonso Davies’ opening goal in the second leg, a match Real Madrid controversially turned around with two late goals from Joselu to win 2-1.
Kane’s Continued Impact Against Real Madrid

Kane’s availability for the recent semi-final first leg was initially uncertain due to ankle issues. However, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel was able to rely on his star forward, whose penalty against Real was his 49th goal across all competitions this season.
Giovane Elber’s remarkable streak against Real Madrid in the Champions League spanned from May 2000 to April 2002. During this period, he contributed directly to goals in four successive encounters, including a goal and an assist in a 2-1 semi-final second leg win in 2000, a decisive 1-0 winner in a semi-final first leg in Madrid in 2001, another goal in the 2-1 return leg, and two assists in a 2-1 quarter-final first leg in 2002.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang achieved his similar record for Borussia Dortmund between September 2016 and December 2017. Aubameyang now plays for Olympique Marseille.
