Gyokeres Rejects Saudi Arabia Offer

Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly turned down a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia. The Swedish forward for Sporting rejected a significant proposal from Al-Hilal, indicating his strong preference to continue his playing career within European football. Despite the extremely generous terms presented – approximately €70 million for Sporting and a net salary of €35 million per season for the player – the striker has made it clear he intends to remain in Europe to compete at the highest level.

Al-Hilal, the Saudi club, had shown serious intent in acquiring Gyokeres with an offer that also included various performance-related bonuses. However, the Swedish international was unwilling to be lured by the financial incentives, as his primary ambition remains participating in Europe`s most competitive leagues.

Among the potential European destinations, Atlético Madrid is noted as one of the clubs with the strongest interest in Viktor Gyokeres. His name is frequently linked with the Wanda Metropolitano, although the initial valuation of his transfer fee, reportedly set at €100 million, was a significant obstacle for the Spanish side.

The asking price is now understood to have decreased to a figure between €65 million and €70 million. However, a potential move to Atlético might only become feasible if they manage to offload Alexander Sorloth, which does not currently appear imminent. Juventus is also reported to have an interest in the player, potentially at a valuation of €60 million, possibly exploring the option of including a player in exchange.
