Former Real Madrid midfielder, Guti, commented on Barcelona`s recent Champions League elimination following their tie against Inter. Speaking on the program `El Chiringuito`, Guti strongly rejected claims from the Catalan press that referee Szymon Marciniak was the main culprit for Barca`s exit.
With a sarcastic tone, Guti dismissed the conspiracy theories, stating, “What conspiracy? The simple truth is they conceded seven goals [across the two legs], while Inter only gave up six.”
He continued to mock the excuses, advising Barcelona and their fans to “Just swallow it and move on. Like you do every year. No problems.” Guti attributed the elimination more to defensive errors, like the one by Ronald Araujo, and Barcelona`s consistent vulnerability at the back throughout the season. “This is a team that lets in many goals,” he emphasized.
Guti highlighted that despite Barcelona`s ability to score (six goals across the two matches), their defensive fragility was the deciding factor. He concluded, “Scoring lots of goals in attack is great, but a team aspiring to reach a final must concede very few goals.”
