Guardalà: “A Match to Forget for Juventus. First Half Truly Insufficient. Now…”

Giovanni Guardalà, a Sky Sport correspondent, offered his analysis of Juventus` performance against Parma. He described the first half as “truly insufficient,” stating that the team was practically invisible and conceded a goal in injury time. The much-discussed experiment pairing Kolo Muani and Vlahovic was ineffective; while Kolo Muani made one pass to Vlahovic, there were zero passes from Vlahovic to Kolo Muani. This suggests the two did not link up well, and more broadly, the entire Juventus team struggled to find cohesion.

Following the goal conceded, the team did show some signs of life in the second half, but their final push was largely disorganized and lacked clear tactical ideas. Parma, on the other hand, fully deserved their crucial victory, which significantly boosts their survival hopes, moving them six points clear of Venezia and Empoli and climbing above Cagliari.

For Juventus, the situation in the league table has become more complicated. While fourth place is still only a point away, Lazio has now caught up, and Roma is just two points behind. Juventus`s next fixture is at home against Monza, which appears favorable on paper. However, this is followed by challenging away games against Bologna and Lazio. Guardalà concluded that if Juventus continues to play like this, achieving their objectives will be extremely difficult. He believes this performance represents not just one, but three steps backward compared to the good, and even very good, displays seen in recent matches, particularly under Tudor. Today`s match is one that should “absolutely be forgotten.”
