The call-VAR system, referees explaining decisions, and dialogues between teams and organized fan groups were among the topics discussed by Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), in an interview with La Stampa. Gravina stated, “Regarding the call-VAR, I have read Rosetti`s concerns, and I am aware of UEFA`s as well. Anything that decides the match should not have limited evaluation. VAR light? We will see how the trial goes. I still see teams talking with ultras. This behavior is prohibited by the rules.”
Concerning offside decisions, Gravina added, “I am thinking about those goals disallowed for an `big toe` offside. Adopting the `light` concept could preserve some small, great moments in football. In Spain or Germany, it is acceptable for referees to speak publicly. In Italy, we are not ready for that yet,” concluded the federation president.
