“I am happy and proud; this election is an extraordinary recognition of the important contribution offered by Italian football to the development of the sport we love most,” said Gabriele Gravina, through the official FIGC website, commenting on the results of the 49th UEFA Congress held today in Belgrade. After being confirmed in the executive committee and re-elected as vice president, Gravina was appointed first vice president: he will be Ceferin`s deputy.
“In the last four years,” Gravina continued, “our credibility at the European level has progressively grown thanks to the choices made and the courageous and innovative policies we are pursuing, implementing rules for an increasingly fascinating and economically and financially balanced football. The common future of European football is written day after day, and we will continue to support this evolutionary process.”
“On a personal level, this election represents incredible satisfaction because it is certainly the result of good politics implemented, but also of the excellent level of relations and connections created internationally, which have contributed decisively to this incredible result. I thank President Ceferin for his vision and friendship, as well as all the delegates from other Federations, who have recognized this great responsibility in the FIGC and in myself.”
