Grande Inter Legend Jair Da Costa Passes Away Aged 84

The football world is in mourning. Jair da Costa, known simply as Jair, has passed away at the age of 84.

He was part of Brazil`s 1962 World Cup-winning squad (though he did not play in the tournament). He was also greatly loved in Italy for his decade of triumphs, goals, and success with Inter Milan between 1962 and 1972.

Jair was a key figure in Angelo Moratti and Helenio Herrera`s legendary `Grande Inter` side that dominated Italian and European football in the 1960s. With the Nerazzurri, he won four Serie A titles, two European Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups.

Inter paid tribute to Jair on social media: “Jair has passed away. A right winger with phenomenal dribbling, he won everything with the Grande Inter. Four league titles, two European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, securing a place in the eternity of a legendary team. The Club sends its deepest condolences to his family in this difficult time.”
