Germany vs. Paraguay World Cup Showdown: Pre-Game Baseball and Fan Perks!

The German national football team (DFB) is set to face Paraguay in the World Cup Round of 16 in Foxborough, near Boston, on Monday. To get into the spirit, German fans can enjoy a classic baseball game on Sunday.

At 7:20 PM local time, Fenway Park will host a highly anticipated duel between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. This matchup is one of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) most historic games, played in one of its most storied venues.

Fenway Park, opened in 1912, is the oldest active MLB stadium. The rivalry between the Red Sox and the Yankees, who are about a four-hour drive southwest in New York, dates back to the stadium’s inauguration. Over the years, this rivalry has become arguably the most intense in MLB. The Yankees hold the record with 27 titles but haven’t won the World Series since 2009. The Red Sox have triumphed nine times, most recently in 2018.

In honor of the German team’s Round of 16 match the following day in nearby Foxborough, the DFB and the Boston Red Sox have organized a special offer for German fans. By booking through a dedicated link, fans receive a $10 discount on tickets and a complimentary ‘Red Sox Germany shirt’. The official meeting point for DFB fans is at 5 PM local time at ‘Game On’, a sports bar located adjacent to the 37,735-capacity Fenway Park. The ‘TubaFrau Hofbräu Band’ will provide German-themed musical entertainment during the game.

Germany Faces Paraguay in Foxborough on Monday

The Red Sox previously welcomed a large contingent of football fans two weeks ago for an MLB game. At that time, Scottish fans took over the matchup against the Texas Rangers the day after their World Cup opener against Haiti in Foxborough.

The DFB team will play Paraguay on Monday at 10:30 PM German time. The stadium of the NFL’s New England Patriots is located approximately 40 kilometers south of downtown Boston. German fans are scheduled to gather at 11 AM at ‘Six Strings’, located right next to the stadium.

Should the DFB team advance past Paraguay, they will face France in the Round of 8 in Philadelphia on July 4th. France, in turn, will play Sweden in their Round of 16 match.
