Genoa Women Make Promotion Star Giulia Giacobbo Signing Permanent

Genoa Women`s team is making significant moves as they solidify their squad ahead of their return to Serie A. A key figure in their successful promotion campaign has been secured on a permanent basis: midfielder Giulia Giacobbo.

The club officially announced the acquisition of the talented 2003-born player from Fiorentina. Giacobbo, who spent last season on loan with the Rossoblù, has now committed her future to Genoa, signing a contract that will keep her at the club until 2028.

Giacobbo was instrumental in Genoa`s push for promotion from Serie B. She featured in 28 matches throughout the campaign, contributing three goals from midfield, proving herself to be a reliable and impactful presence in the centre of the park.

Prior to her highly successful loan spell at Genoa, Giacobbo had limited senior opportunities at her former club, Fiorentina, making just two appearances since 2022. She did gain valuable experience during a previous loan stint at Napoli Femminile, where she played 38 games and scored four times over a season and a half. However, it was evidently at Genoa where she truly found her rhythm and showcased her potential, becoming a protagonist rather than a prospect waiting for a chance.

Securing Giacobbo on a permanent deal is a clear statement of intent from Genoa`s management. It ensures that a young player who has already proven her worth and played a vital role in the team`s recent success will be an integral part of their plans as they face the challenges of competing in Italy`s top women`s football league.
