Bologna midfielder Remo Freuler shared his thoughts with Gazzetta dello Sport.
Asked about his early-season comment “Italiano must be followed,” Freuler affirmed his statement was correct. He noted the team is entering a crucial 20 days where they could either succeed greatly or face disappointment. He reiterated that coach Italiano was worth following, and that the team has embraced his “Rock” philosophy after initial challenges. Playing well helps, and everyone is now working towards the same goal.
Regarding the controversial unawarded penalty against Juventus, Freuler recounted the incident. He explained he was positioning himself to shield the ball when Weston McKennie “hit me from behind.” Freuler stated McKennie “didn`t stop” and “went straight onto my leg.” He contrasted this with Denzel Dumfries` action of shielding the ball in a goal play against Barcelona, suggesting McKennie made no attempt to avoid the collision.
