Francesco Repice on Roma and Atalanta: Ranieri’s Words and Gasperini’s Pressure

Journalist and voice of Tutto Il Calcio Minuto Per Minuto, Francesco Repice, spoke on TMW Radio during Maracanà.

Atalanta`s Decline

Regarding Atalanta`s slump, Repice questioned whether they risk Champions League qualification. He noted that when Gasperini had disagreements within the club, including with some players and the media, things worsened. He emphasized the delicate balance within teams, despite past successes. Repice suggested that perhaps too much was expected of Gasperini, but acknowledged his significant contributions to their current position and the high pressures at the top level.

Lazio`s Victory in Bergamo

Commenting on Lazio`s win against Bergamo, Repice drew parallels to the Roma-Juventus match, highlighting the difficulties faced by many teams. He stated that Lazio resolved the game through a specific event, recognizing the need to be pragmatic and secure the win. He stressed the importance of every point in the Champions League race, observing that, aside from Bologna, he doesn`t see exceptional performances from teams in that part of the table.

Ranieri`s “Cold Shower” for Roma

Addressing Ranieri`s statements post-Juventus match, Repice described them as a “cold shower” for Roma, suggesting the honeymoon period is over. He recalled Ranieri`s initial supportive stance towards the Friedkin ownership. However, he noted a shift towards Ranieri distancing himself from a directorial role and becoming more of an advisor, which he considered concerning for Roma fans. Repice speculated that Roma`s plans might be less ambitious than previously thought, questioning why a seemingly established path with Ranieri as director and Allegri as coach might be abandoned in favor of less convincing solutions.
