Marini emphasized the high level of competition the team faced and matched during those years. He stated that alongside prominent clubs like Juventus, Real Madrid, and Red Star Belgrade, Inter was considered to be among the most competitive sides in Europe. As a testament to the team`s strength and quality, he pointed out that Italy`s national coach Enzo Bearzot included five Inter players in the 22-man squad for the 1982 World Cup held in Spain.
