FC Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in 17-year-old Brazilian talent Belinho, currently playing for NK Kustosija in Croatia. Scouts from the German record champions have been regularly monitoring the teenager, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. However, Bayern is not alone in their pursuit, with FC Barcelona and Newcastle United also sending scouts to observe Belinho’s performances.
Belinho, who came through the youth ranks at Vasco da Gama, moved to Croatia four years ago. He joined Dinamo Zagreb’s youth academy in early 2023 before switching to NK Kustosija in February. Both Croatia and Brazil are vying to secure Belinho’s commitment to their respective youth national teams. The 17-year-old is a small, skillful attacking midfielder known for his dribbling ability and strong one-on-one qualities.
Kompany Confirms Goretzka’s Starting Role
FC Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany has guaranteed Leon Goretzka a place in the starting lineup for the final Bundesliga home match against 1. FC Köln. This will be Goretzka’s 311th competitive appearance for the Munich club, as he is set to depart this summer upon the expiry of his contract.
«Leon Goretzka will be in the starting eleven tomorrow,» Kompany stated at a press conference on Friday. «But this is not a gift. He has earned it through his performances and what he has experienced with the team over the years,» the Belgian added.
This match will mark Goretzka’s final appearance at the Allianz Arena. His last potential competitive game for Bayern could be the DFB-Pokal final in Berlin the following Saturday, where FCB will face VfB Stuttgart.
Eberl Reflects on a «Very Special» Season
Despite still having a major objective for the season, Bayern Munich’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, and head coach Vincent Kompany have already expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance. «We are not at the end yet. We can still win the double. But what we have achieved this season is very special,» Eberl emphasized before the Bundesliga finale against 1. FC Köln.
Eberl highlighted the club’s focus on a clear path, building on last season’s disappointments in the Champions League and cup competitions. He noted the stability found, development through the Club World Cup, integration of the youth academy, and progress in squad development, indicating further potential.
The Bayern executive also praised Kompany’s coaching ability, mentioning his work with established players like Harry Kane and Luis Díaz, in addition to developing younger talents. «We are very happy and also proud of what we have achieved so far this season,» Eberl stated.
Kompany echoed this sentiment, despite the Champions League semi-final exit against Paris Saint-Germain. «We still have this very important cup final, of course, but we have had many positive experiences this season, and many players have developed, giving us something extra,» he said. The 40-year-old coach also looked ahead, setting high expectations for continued development next year.
Bayern and Canada in Close Dialogue Over Davies’ Injury
Following a significant dispute with the Canadian federation last year, FC Bayern is now emphasizing close communication in the case of Alphonso Davies. Sport director Max Eberl acknowledged that the player’s recent injury, occurring shortly before the World Cup, is «dramatic enough.» He expressed a collective desire to find the best path forward for «Phonzie,» Canada, and FC Bayern, stressing that the player needs to recover to have any possibility of participating.
Davies sustained a muscle injury in his left hamstring during the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, which Bayern stated would sideline him for «several weeks.» This puts his participation in the World Cup (June 11 to July 19) in jeopardy. Co-hosts Canada begin their tournament on June 12 against Bosnia-Herzegovina, with further group matches against Qatar and Switzerland.
Davies had previously been out for an extended period due to an ACL tear in his knee, sustained while on international duty. Even after his comeback, the Canadian international has been plagued by minor injuries.
The ACL injury from March 2025 led to a heated dispute between Bayern and the Canadian Soccer Association, with the club accusing the federation of playing an injured Davies in a meaningless third-place match in the CONCACAF Nations League. Initial assurances from Canada about the severity of the injury were later contradicted by diagnoses in Munich, with Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen even threatening legal action.
