Enzo Fernandez Hints at Possible Chelsea Exit Amid PSG & Real Madrid Interest

Enzo Fernandez is keeping his future at Chelsea open, with several top clubs reportedly interested in him.

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez is reportedly considering a move, potentially looking for the next step in his career after his record transfer in January 2023.

The 2022 World Cup winner has recently been non-committal about his future. Following a 0-3 defeat in the Champions League Round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain, he was quoted saying, ‘My future at the club? I don’t know,’ and added, ‘Right now, I’m fully focused on Chelsea. We will see what happens after the World Cup.’

At Chelsea, Fernandez has long established himself as a key figure in midfield, whether playing as a number eight or in a more attacking role. With eight goals in 29 Premier League appearances, he has also demonstrated his offensive quality, combining it with game intelligence and strength in duels.

PSG and Real Madrid Reportedly Eyeing Fernandez

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are frequently mentioned as potential suitors, though no concrete negotiations have been reported so far. One thing is clear: any transfer would be complicated.

As recently as mid-January, it was reported that Fernandez was a top transfer target for the French champions, as they look to build a strong squad around Portuguese midfielder Vitinha.

Fernandez is said to have been «considering his future» since learning of PSG’s interest. However, there has been no formal approach yet, as PSG is reportedly willing to be patient.

Fernandez remains under a long-term contract until 2032, and without cooperation from the London club, a summer transfer would be highly improbable. Furthermore, it seems unlikely that Chelsea would let their key player leave for less than the original transfer fee paid.

In his nearly three years in London, the 38-time international has played 160 competitive matches, scoring 28 goals and providing 29 assists. He arrived from Benfica Lisbon for over 121 million Euros, making him Chelsea’s record signing.
