The future of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, a player previously linked with FC Bayern Munich, appears to be taking an interesting turn with a significant financial offer reportedly coming from Turkey.
According to Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Istanbul’s historic club Besiktas has presented the Serbian international, whose contract with Juventus expires at the end of June, with an annual salary of ten million euros. Additionally, the offer includes a signing bonus of at least five million euros.
Should Vlahovic make the move to Besiktas, he would reunite with his former coach Vincenzo Italiano, with whom he previously worked at AC Fiorentina. Under Italiano’s guidance at Fiorentina, Vlahovic scored an impressive 17 goals in 22 matches.
However, the report suggests that Vlahovic is taking his time with a decision. At 26 years old, he is reportedly not entirely convinced about the prospect of playing outside of Europe’s top five leagues. Furthermore, Besiktas’ participation in the Europa League might not be enough to sway him.
Vlahovic is said to be holding out for an offer from a top European club. Despite rumored interest from clubs such as Atletico Madrid, FC Barcelona, and FC Bayern Munich, none have reportedly been willing to meet his demands, which are considered excessive by these suitors.
Uncertainty Surrounds Vlahovic’s Future
After initial negotiations were believed to have stalled, Juventus has reportedly made a renewed attempt to convince Vlahovic to stay. According to Gazzetta, the Bianconeri’s latest offer includes a one-year contract with an annual salary of up to eight million euros, including bonuses.
Currently, Vlahovic is reportedly the highest earner in Serie A, with an annual salary of twelve million euros. However, if he wishes to remain in Turin, he would need to accept a significant pay cut.
Recent reports indicate that Vlahovic has already come to terms with a reduction in his salary and would consider a one or two-year extension.
Vlahovic is reportedly eager to continue working with coach Luciano Spalletti. The Juve coach is also said to favor a physically strong center-forward like Vlahovic, who, however, has been sidelined by injuries for a significant part of the current season.
FC Bayern Munich Had Previously Shown Interest in Vlahovic
Since his transfer to Turin, the forward has scored a total of 68 goals in 168 appearances. While this is a solid record, it falls short of Juventus’ expectations when they invested approximately 85 million euros to sign him from Fiorentina in the winter of 2022.
FC Bayern Munich, in particular, has been repeatedly linked with the Serbian national team striker in the past. Following the departure of Nicolas Jackson, the Munich club has been looking for an additional offensive option to support Harry Kane.
According to media reports, discussions between Bayern officials and the player regarding a potential move even took place in May. At one point, Munich was considered a promising candidate. However, these speculations have recently quieted down, partly due to the impending arrival of Ismael Saibari, a versatile offensive player.
