Di Gregorio: “We’ve Worked Hard on Aggressiveness”

Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio spoke to DAZN after tonight`s game against Lecce. Here`s what he had to say:

Do you feel a positive change in the atmosphere?

“Certainly, in these three weeks we have worked a lot on aggression, maintaining a high intensity during the week, and consequently, you carry those things into the game. I believe it`s starting to show.”

What can a goalkeeper do to raise the team`s attention on set pieces? You are conceding a few too many goals.

“Yes, it`s true. Personally, before the corner is taken, even before the ball arrives in the box, I try to call out instructions, even to individuals. We are working on this, though, because the coach and his staff are very focused on set pieces. In fact, I`m disappointed to have conceded a goal. I`m reviewing it now; it was very close. But we need to work on it, we`ll watch it back, we`ll try to understand the line, what I can do, everyone can do a little bit. However, I want to emphasize the spirit, because that is the starting point for being able to improve and play great games.”

Compared to the previous management, has anything changed for you? Has the game where you`ll be required to play with your feet arrived yet?

“Honestly, we`ve worked on that too, on goal kicks. The coach still gives me enough freedom to choose based on how the opponents are positioned, where there might be superiority. The requests are more or less the same. I try to stay in the game even if I`m less involved, also because if I`m less involved, it means our center of gravity is higher and therefore we are further forward, we attack more and create more, like today. For 80 minutes it was like that.”
