Former footballer Raffaele Di Fusco shared his insights on Napoli during an appearance on TMW Radio`s `Maracanà` program. Addressing whether there`s a noticeable anxiety related to securing victory, Di Fusco commented:
“Is there anxiety about winning? It`s certainly possible. I`m personally not overly concerned, although perhaps one realistically should be.”
He stressed the unpredictable nature of football, emphasizing that every single match must be contested, and highlighted recent results as evidence.
Di Fusco further explained his lack of significant worry by considering the potential outcomes for rival teams. He suggested that even competitors like Inter might drop points, mentioning scenarios such as Inter potentially failing to win against Lazio or drawing with Parma, implying that Napoli`s position might not be immediately jeopardized by a temporary dip in form.
Regarding recent defensive lapses, specifically a conceded goal, Di Fusco defended the coach`s strategy. He stated that the defense was properly positioned and that the coach`s decision to field a player with greater physical presence was indeed the correct one for that situation. He also observed that while Napoli has taken fewer shots on target lately, their rivals, including Inter, have shown a similar lack of attacking prowess.
Di Fusco acknowledged that despite recent Napoli performances not being particularly brilliant or involving a high volume of shots, the team has still managed to secure wins. He drew a comparison, noting, “Up to this point, Conte`s style of play has yielded results,” and added, “It remains the best defense currently.” While admitting he found the last Napoli match personally underwhelming (“liked the last Napoli game little”), he concluded that upon evaluating the overall situation, “if you weigh the pros and cons, the pros ultimately carry more weight” for Napoli.
