Currently, the 42-year-old Dante is still actively playing for Ligue 1 club OGC Nice, but he could subsequently return to FC Bayern Munich in a new capacity.
Reports indicate that Dante, who won the treble with FC Bayern Munich in 2013, is being considered a potential successor to Holger Seitz for the coaching position of the club’s reserve team starting this summer.
At 42, Dante remains an active player for OGC Nice in Ligue 1 but plans to embark on his coaching career after the current season concludes. He has previously expressed a strong desire to return to FC Bayern one day. In an interview with the FCB club magazine ’51’ in late 2024, the central defender revealed, «My goal is to become a coach. I’m incredibly keen on it. I want to pass on my experience and help every individual player improve, both as a footballer and as a person.»
Between 2012 and 2015, the Brazilian made 133 competitive appearances for FC Bayern, winning the German championship three times, the DFB-Pokal three times, and the Champions League once. Dante also gained legendary status for his motivational video to his teammates, famously uttering ‘… und Pokal auch’ (and the cup too).
Holger Seitz to Step Down as FC Bayern II Coach After Season

The FC Bayern reserve team is currently coached by Holger Seitz, who has been with the team since 2020, with a brief interruption. He notably guided the reserve squad to the Regionalliga championship in the 2018/19 season. It is understood that he will relinquish his coaching duties at the German record champions at the end of the season as part of a comprehensive restructuring, coinciding with the arrival of new Campus Director Michael Wiesinger (effective May 1).
Despite stepping down, Seitz is expected to remain with the club and take on a new, as yet undefined, role in the future.
FC Bayern II currently sits in sixth place in the Regionalliga Bayern after 28 matchdays.
