Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. Training with Real Madrid U16 Amid Transfer Talk

Cristiano Ronaldo spent nine successful years at Real Madrid. Now, his eldest son appears poised to follow in the superstar’s footsteps.

Portuguese youth international Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. is reportedly on the verge of joining the academy of LaLiga record-holders Real Madrid.

According to reports from The Athletic and Marca, CR7’s eldest son is currently training with Real Madrid’s U16 squad. He participated in a session on Tuesday morning and is expected to undergo further trials in the coming days with a potential transfer in mind. Much like his famous father, Ronaldo Jr. currently plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia but could soon make the move to Real’s renowned youth academy, La Fábrica.

The 15-year-old is considered a talented left-winger. He first represented a Portuguese national team in May 2023 when he debuted for the U15s in a 4-1 victory over Japan. After four appearances and two goals at that level, he is now an U16 international, having scored once in six matches.

On a club level, Ronaldo Jr. previously played in the youth academies of Juventus (2018-2021) and Manchester United (2021-2023), mirroring his father’s last two European clubs. He is currently playing for Al-Nassr’s U17 team.

Cristiano Ronaldo experienced the most successful period of his career at Real Madrid. Among his many achievements, he won the Champions League four times and was awarded the Ballon d’Or on four occasions. He became the legendary club’s all-time leading scorer, netting an astonishing 450 goals in 438 games, along with providing 131 assists.

Should his son move to Madrid, it could also fuel speculation about Ronaldo’s own return to Spain. A return, especially after his playing career ends, is likely a serious option for the 41-year-old. He has consistently emphasized his strong connection to Spain, still owns a villa in Madrid, and only a few weeks ago became a co-owner of second-division club UD Almería.
