After drawing last week, Napoli bounced back with a 3-0 victory against Empoli at the Maradona stadium, responding to Inter and Atalanta. Corriere dello Sport-Stadio headlined the article “McNapoli”. The team, coached by Antonio Conte, confidently defeated the Tuscan side thanks to a goal scored in the 18th minute by Scotsman Scott McTominay, as well as goals from Lukaku and McTominay himself in the second half. This victory allowed them to gain all three points and remain three points behind the league leader, Inter.
The match in Naples was spectacular. Napoli opened the scoring with a beautiful curling shot from outside the box by the former United player. The first half was even, with Empoli putting up a fight and having a couple of chances with Fazzini and Esposito.
However, in the second half, unlike previous matches, Napoli did not lose concentration, but rather increased it. Lukaku`s second goal in the 56th minute made things easier, and then, 5 minutes later, McTominay scored his second, becoming the first Napoli player to score a brace this season (only the post prevented him from scoring a hat-trick).
