Following their commanding 3-0 victory in the first leg away at Empoli, Bologna completed the job by defeating the Tuscan side 2-1 in the return match at the Stadio Dall`Ara. Bologna opened the scoring early through a header from Fabbian in the 7th minute. Kovalenko leveled for Empoli in the 33rd minute. However, Bologna sealed the win late in the second half with a goal from Dallinga.
