Chelsea Players Reportedly Had a Nasty Nickname for Former Coach Liam Rosenior

Liam Rosenior, who was recently dismissed, apparently had a highly unappreciative nickname within the Chelsea squad.

According to the British BBC, the 41-year-old Englishman was called a ‘supply teacher’. In retrospect, this nickname proved to be quite fitting.

After a successful period at Chelsea’s partner club Racing Strasbourg in France, Rosenior was dispatched to London in January to succeed the sacked Enzo Maresca. However, it is reported that Rosenior struggled with authority issues within the star-studded team, a fact underscored by the alleged nickname.

While results were initially satisfactory under Rosenior, Chelsea recently plunged into a dramatic crisis. Seven of their last eight competitive matches were lost, and they failed to score a single goal in their last three games. Consequently, the London club was eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain and dropped to eighth place in the Premier League.

FC Chelsea: Who Will Succeed Liam Rosenior?

Following a 0-3 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday, Rosenior was ultimately dismissed. ‘This was not an easy decision for the club, but the recent results and performances have fallen short of the required standards,’ Chelsea announced in an official statement.

Rosenior’s contract with Chelsea was set to run until 2032, and his severance package is reportedly €28 million. Interim charge has been taken by former youth coach Calum McFarlane (40). Andoni Iraola, whose contract with AFC Bournemouth expires in the summer, is considered the favorite for Rosenior’s permanent successor. Cesc Fabregas, Filipe Luis, Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernandez, Frank Lampard, and Jose Mourinho have also been mentioned as potential candidates.

Chelsea will face Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday.
