Franco Ceravolo has revealed that he was the one who suggested Juventus sign Igor Tudor back in 1998. Ceravolo, who was the technical director at Juventus at the time, scouted Tudor during a Hajduk Split versus Malmö match, initially intending to watch a Swedish midfielder.
However, the 19-year-old Tudor, playing in defense, caught his eye. Ceravolo was impressed by Tudor`s physical attributes and passing range. He informed Luciano Moggi and Antonio Giraudo about Tudor, and they decided to sign the Croatian defender instead of pursuing the Swedish player, Andersson.
Ceravolo emphasized that Tudor was a valuable player for Juventus, though injuries may have prevented him from reaching his full potential. Despite this, Tudor contributed significantly to the team, scoring crucial goals, particularly with his head from set-pieces.
Now, Tudor is set to coach Juventus. Ceravolo commented on the challenges of managing Juventus, highlighting the need for team management skills and good player relationships. He believes Tudor is well-prepared, having gained considerable coaching experience and possessing a deep understanding of Juventus from his seven years as a player. He understands the club`s mentality and expectations.
