Carlo Ancelotti and Brazil Announce Future Decision: Targeting World Supremacy Together

The Italian manager and the five-time world champions demonstrate a united determination. Ancelotti is set to coach the Selecao not just for one World Cup.

Former Bayern Munich title-winning coach Carlo Ancelotti will remain the manager of the Brazilian national football team up to and including the World Cup tournament in 2030. The agreement with the 66-year-old Italian was announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) less than a month before the upcoming World Cup finals in the USA, Mexico, and Canada (June 11 to July 19).

Ancelotti took over the reins of the record World Cup winners a year ago, after his contract with Spanish record champions Real Madrid expired. Under the guidance of the former professional, the Selecao successfully qualified for the first-ever expanded World Cup.

«I understood from the beginning what football means to this country, and that is why we have been working over the past year to lead the Brazilian national team back to the very top of the world,» Ancelotti stated in the federation’s press release.

Brazil Has Waited 24 Years for a World Cup Title

Ancelotti had recently signaled his readiness to extend his commitment with the five-time World Cup champions. Last week, CBF President Samir Xaud described it as «certain» that the new contract between both parties would be signed before the World Cup began. «The contract renewal is part of our efforts to keep Brazil at the highest level of world football,» Xaud said after the final agreement with Ancelotti.

The contract extension is also a vote of confidence for the coach ahead of the World Cup finals. On May 18th, Ancelotti will announce his final World Cup squad in Rio de Janeiro. In the World Cup group stage, Brazil will face Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti in Group C.

Brazilian fans have been anticipating the sixth World Cup triumph for the South Americans since their victory in 2002 at the World Cup tournament in South Korea and Japan, with a 2-0 win in the final in Yokohama against the German national team.
