According to journalist Fabio Caressa, if Inter Milan and Napoli finish the league season with the same number of points, the potential Scudetto play-off match is very likely to be played at Inter`s home stadium – San Siro.
Caressa explained on Sky Calcio Club that this year`s regulations stipulate that the play-off will not be held at a neutral venue, but at the stadium of the team that is higher in the league table in case of a tie in points.
The criteria for determining a higher position in case of equal points are as follows: head-to-head results – a draw; goal difference in head-to-head matches – also a draw (two matches with a score of 1-1); overall goal difference – here Inter is ahead of Napoli.
Thus, currently, if a play-off were needed, it would be played at San Siro. The goal difference between the teams is 15 goals, so if they finish with the same number of points, it is highly probable that the Scudetto play-off will take place at San Siro.
