Canovi: Agent Would Advise Vlahovic to Stand Firm at Juventus

Renowned football agent Dario Canovi recently shared his views on the current state of Italian football and specific player situations during his appearance on TMW Radio`s `Maracanà`.

Addressing the possibility of players moving abroad, Canovi asserted that if a player, mentioning Moise Kean in a related discussion, receives an offer from a major league like the Premier League, Bundesliga, or LaLiga, they should accept it. He was critical of Italian football, stating it is significantly behind others and lacks appeal due to deficiencies in technical, tactical, and even “human” values. Canovi argued that players who wish to truly demonstrate their worth should seek opportunities outside of Italy, as Serie A is increasingly becoming a league that signs older players, risking turning into a “championship of old glories.”

Turning his focus to Dusan Vlahovic`s future at Juventus, Canovi expressed certainty that the Serbian striker will see out his current contract. He criticised Juventus for not managing such situations proactively. Offering strong advice from an agent`s perspective, Canovi stated, “If I were Vlahovic`s agent, I would tell him to stand firm. If they want to send you away, they either have to give you all the money [remaining on the contract] or you stay here.” Canovi acknowledged that this stance creates a difficult situation for the coach, noting that while leaving Vlahovic out of the squad is a possibility, paying a €12 million salary for a player who isn`t playing represents a significant financial burden and responsibility for the club.

Finally, when asked about Roma`s potential transfer market moves, Canovi took the opportunity to express his profound confidence in Gian Piero Gasperini, the Atalanta coach. Canovi lauded Gasperini`s value and expressed certainty that he would perform exceptionally well, regardless of the specific team or squad composition provided to him.
