Speaking to Mediaset after the loss to Real Madrid, Andrea Cambiaso said, “It was a good match. We played the right way and faced one of the strongest teams in the world well. We gave them some chances, which is unavoidable, and it`s a shame because there`s some regret that we didn`t capitalize better on our own opportunities. Despite the outcome, it was certainly a good performance.”
Asked about the change from the previous match against City, Cambiaso explained, “They were two different games, approached differently. We analyzed the City game and realized we started that match poorly in terms of our approach. Today, we were much more focused, and you could see that in my teammates` eyes. I believe that was the key difference.”
Regarding what the team takes away from this experience, he stated, “It was definitely a great experience. We played against two of the strongest teams in the world, City and Real Madrid. I think we can take positives from it; we should be proud. But now we need to recover, and then we`ll focus on the next season.”
Asked if this event could be considered the start of pre-season training under coach Tudor, Cambiaso replied, “These days were definitely useful for us to get to know each other. However, I believe next season will be approached differently as we start from scratch. We`ll see. For now, the most important thing is to switch off and head home.”
