BVB Hunts Guirassy Successor: Alkmaar’s Bendeguz Kovacs on Radar Amid Transfer Speculation

Borussia Dortmund is reportedly looking for a potential successor for Serhou Guirassy, whose future at the club remains uncertain. A towering two-meter young talent is now said to be on their radar.

Reports indicate that BVB has inquired with AZ Alkmaar about acquiring 18-year-old youth striker Bendeguz Kovacs, who stands at an impressive 1.99 meters. However, Dortmund appears to face competition for his signature.

Sporting Lisbon, Juventus, and Aston Villa have also reportedly contacted the Eredivisie club regarding Kovacs. The 18-year-old is said to be available for approximately five million Euros and could be developed at BVB as a long-term successor for Serhou Guirassy.

Despite a contract running until 2028, Guirassy’s stay beyond the summer is far from guaranteed. Tottenham and AC Milan have reportedly expressed interest to the 30-year-old’s management. A move to Saudi Arabia is also not ruled out, though maximizing his current rumored annual salary of ten million Euros in the desert is not Guirassy’s top priority. He is expected to make a decision on his future shortly after the season concludes in May.

Guirassy’s Release Clause Could Lead to Summer Exit – A Bidding War on the Horizon?

The release clause embedded in Guirassy’s contract, which would allow the 30-year-old to depart Dortmund for 45 to 50 million Euros two years before his contract expires, reportedly applies only to an exclusive list of clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, or Liverpool.

For Dortmund, a potential transfer of their top striker to Saudi Arabia, London, or Milan would be highly appealing, as it could significantly drive up the Guinean’s market value in a bidding war. Following their Champions League exit against Atalanta Bergamo, BVB faces potential financial losses. A lucrative summer sale could, however, mitigate these setbacks and create additional room for new transfers, especially since striker Fabio Silva has already shown promising signs this season.

Kovacs Shines in Youth Leagues with Impressive Goal-Scoring Record

The 18-year-old Kovacs could develop and learn further in Dortmund, potentially behind the Portuguese striker. Although the Hungarian youth international has not yet made his professional debut for Alkmaar, he boasts an outstanding goal-scoring record across all youth teams.

From 2023 to 2025, he scored 19 goals in 46 competitive matches for Ajax’s U17 and U19 teams. For Alkmaar’s U19, U21, and Youth League teams, he has netted 29 goals in 33 appearances.
