Briaschi: “Tudor? Juventus Couldn’t Have Made a Better Choice”

Massimo Briaschi describes his move to Juventus in 1984 as a dream come true. He recounts that joining Juventus was an aspiration he thought might never materialize, but suddenly became reality. Despite having the option to stay with Genoa in Serie B and interest from Lazio, Briaschi chose Juventus. This decision proved rewarding as Boniperti and Trapattoni decided to include him in their attacking plans.

During his three years in Turin, Briaschi achieved remarkable success, winning the Serie A title, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup. Playing alongside football legends like Platini, Boniek, Tardelli, and Scirea, he managed to carve out significant playing time.

In a recent interview on Radiobianconera`s RBN Cafè, ahead of the Juventus vs. Genoa match, Briaschi fondly reminisced about his time with Juventus. He stated, “I remember that period very well; arriving at Juventus was a dream for everyone. I still have wonderful memories. It was an incredible team that won so much.”

When asked about his best memory, Briaschi highlighted his debut match in the Coppa Italia against Palermo, where he scored three goals, marking his arrival in the best possible way.

Regarding Igor Tudor`s appointment as coach, Briaschi believes it`s an excellent decision. “Tudor has a significant advantage: he knows the Juventus environment perfectly. It`s a step ahead of others. While the choice came about due to a coaching change, it was a spot-on decision by the club. They couldn`t have chosen a better coach; he has proven his ability everywhere he has coached.”

Reflecting on Thiago Motta`s departure, Briaschi expressed surprise, acknowledging Motta`s coaching talent. However, he pointed out the difference between managing a mid-table team and a top club like Juventus. “The difficulties he encountered were numerous, environmental and mental. A month ago, Juventus had the best defense in both Italy and Europe, and that doesn`t change in 1-2 games. It`s something beyond the technical qualities of the players.”

Briaschi concluded optimistically about the potential of seeing players like Yildiz, Kolo Muani, and Vlahovic playing together, suggesting it could be an exciting prospect.
