Speaking on Cronache di Spogliatoio, football analyst Stefano Borghi shared his thoughts on Antonio Conte`s recent move to Napoli. Borghi admitted that the past 48 hours had been full of surprises in the football world. He confessed that he had personally expected Conte to take the managerial role at Juventus.
According to Borghi, Conte`s decision to join Napoli instead is a “great victory” for the club`s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis. He sees this as a significant achievement, especially when reflecting on the period following Napoli`s recent Scudetto triumph, which saw the departures of key figures like coach Luciano Spalletti and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Borghi highlighted that while Spalletti is now focused on his role with the national team and Giuntoli has moved to Juventus, De Laurentiis has managed to secure a top coach in Conte. He suggested that De Laurentiis successfully convinced Conte by assuring him of substantial resources for the transfer market, making a lighthearted remark about potential high-profile signings beyond expectations.
