Bonucci: “Since January, Juventus hasn`t functioned well. Yildiz? He has proven he has the qualities and talent to become an important player.”
Leonardo Bonucci, in an interview with the Turkish broadcaster TRT Spot (quoted by Adnkronos), shared his perspective on the situation at Juventus. The former Juventus and Italy defender explained that “Juventus began the season with significant goals, like winning the Scudetto, but the season unfolded as we know, culminating in the coaching change. The team`s performance declined significantly from January onwards, as did Thiago Motta`s tactical approach.” Regarding young player Kenan Yildiz, Bonucci stated, “He has demonstrated that he possesses the qualities and talent needed to become a key player for both Juventus and the Turkish national team. I follow his progress with great affection.”
Discussing Inter Milan, Bonucci commented, “They have had an excellent run in Europe and have experienced players well-equipped to handle the demands of Champions League matches. We will see what happens in Monaco, but it is a source of pride for Italian football to see another Italian team reach the final. As for Calhanoglu, in my opinion, he has developed enormously and has truly taken the team by the hand.”
Reflecting on his former club, Fenerbahce, Bonucci noted, “Winning the championship this year is unfortunately challenging, but I have many friends at Fener and they remain close to my heart. Even last year, we were close, and there is still a project in place aimed at winning the Super Lig. At the beginning of the year, with Mourinho`s arrival, I was convinced we could celebrate winning the league, but that likely won`t happen because Gala (Galatasaray) has had a fantastic season. Fenerbahçe fans deserve a great team and a great coach, which is what the president has been working towards in recent years.”
