Ballarini (Sportitalia): ‘Conte, You Don’t Need to Belittle Others to Exalt Yourself’

Valentina Ballarini, in her editorial for Sportitalia, offered some direct advice to Antonio Conte: “Dear Antonio, there`s no need to diminish the achievements of others in order to elevate your own. It`s perfectly acceptable to be competitive, but there`s a boundary. The current excessiveness of competition is detrimental to our society, particularly its younger members. They are growing up with the notion that success is attained by `taking others out.` At least in my opinion, this is not the right way.”

“If your talent is evident and universally recognized, that should be sufficient validation. There is no need to repeatedly stress, day after day, that winning the Scudetto now represents something more `historic` compared to the one won by Spalletti just two years prior. This point is emphasized merely because he supposedly won it `in a carriage` (easily) whereas you are facing difficulties, or simply because his team two years ago was stronger and encountered fewer issues than your current squad.”
