The Turkish national team has secured its spot in the final of the World Cup qualification playoffs. In a thrilling semi-final encounter against Romania, Turkey emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win. The decisive goal came in the second half, courtesy of Ferdi Kadioglu, following a brilliant assist from Real Madrid’s rising star, Arda Güler.
The deadlock was broken in the 53rd minute when Ferdi Kadioglu, representing Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, netted with a powerful shot after a short sprint. However, the true highlight of the goal was the exquisite setup by Arda Güler. From the right side of midfield, Güler precisely curled the ball into the penalty area, finding Kadioglu in perfect position to score.
This crucial goal served as the turning point for Turkey in what had been a largely uneventful match until then. While Turkey enjoyed more possession, clear-cut scoring opportunities were scarce. The Turks successfully defended their slender 1-0 lead, advancing to the final where they will face the winner of the match between Slovakia and Kosovo. A successful qualification would mark Turkey’s first appearance at a World Cup in 24 years.
