Antonio Rüdiger’s contract with Real Madrid is set to expire this summer, and the Spanish giants have reportedly made their initial offer for an extension. The proposal is said to be for a single year and would require the German center-back to accept a substantial reduction from his current annual salary of approximately 14 million euros.
Rüdiger joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in 2022. Despite initial injury concerns at the start of the season, he has established himself as a key figure in the «White Ballet’s» starting lineup. Since his arrival, the German international has contributed to significant title wins, including one Champions League, two UEFA Super Cups, one La Liga title, and one Copa del Rey.
Before moving to Madrid, Rüdiger also enjoyed success at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, winning both the Champions League and the Europa League. The 31-year-old began his professional career at VfB Stuttgart, then moved to AS Roma before joining Chelsea in London in 2017. Previously, there were rumors that Rüdiger’s representatives had explored options with financially strong clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Return to Italy for Antonio Rüdiger?
However, a move to the Saudi Pro League is reportedly no longer considered a viable option for Rüdiger, citing security concerns in the region. Nonetheless, speculation continues regarding other potential destinations, with Juventus Turin reportedly showing interest in the 2017 Confederations Cup winner.
